Cho (“The Language Archive”) lets the often bloodcurdling narrative unfurl in jagged shards, letting us puzzle through alternative scenarios of what happens to this troubled student, what becomes of the firepower that might be carrying in his backpack and whether Gina will make it out of this alive. Unfortunately the drama loses some of its hold over us in these scattershot permutations of possibility. Some of the parallel realities are harrowing, particularly those involving people cowering in the shadows while a rampaging gunman stalks the halls, but others are frustrating. Second St. The musical, based on E.T.A. Hoffman’s “The Nutcracker and the Mouse King,” features music from Tchaikovsky’s “Nutcracker Suite.” This unique version of “The Nutcracker” captures the magic and fantasy without the dancing. The show will be performed by two casts. The younger cast, 2 through 12 years old, performs the this weekend, while the older cast will perform the final week.
